Question
Anyone ready for quite a bit of reading?
Hey all! I just recovered this story i started writing about two years ago. Does anyone want to read itsome of it pretty long... and tell me if its worth continuing? It seems like kind of a dumb plot, but give it a chance. Tell me what you think, if you think I should keep on writing or if I should start something new. Here...
Answer
I think it has promise, but is whats the word Im looking for? unpolished.brbrI liked it, and was interested, but struggled to read to the end although I do want to know how the plot is resolved which is a massive plus for you.brbr It would be a lot easier to read if the paragraphing was better. Dont be afraid of very short paragraphs.brbrUnless it is making a considered point, avoid repetition of words and, even worse, phrases. For me there are too many adjectives that crop up several times each.brbrId better point out here that I have been working on a short mystery story for over years and still havent got it to the stage where Id show it to anyone so very well done. And I dont mean that patronisingly.brbrIf I were you Id hope that someone would advise me to read a collection of Raymond Chandler short stories or any copy of the Ellery Queen Mystery Magazine.brbrIn answer to your actual question, definitely keep on writing, but perhaps write something new for a while, and then go back to this. Agatha Christie and Shakespeare did this often!!!.brbrThats my last point too many !!!! exclamation marks.
